She over-acted. If you watch her during interviews with all her mannerisms, they poke through the cracks in her acting. It seemed as though she was forcing the character. Lee Daniels was daring with his directing and it is rare we see directors go that bold. While I greatly enjoyed the film, I would've appreciated the plot to go into details about the issues she was facing. Never has a movie hit me in the gut so hard.
